BodyNetix
bodybugg Press Release

Is Your Weight Bugging You?  BodyNetix Has the Bug for You!

A cool new gadget that’s been described as the world’s most advanced weight-loss tool is now available in the Comox Valley.

The bodybugg, a sleek little device that’s worn on the upper arm and measures calorie input and expenditure, has garnered rave reviews by magazines like Women’s Health and Self, and was presented with a Best of What’s New award by the venerable Popular Mechanics.

The power of the bodybugg lies in its simplicity – its wearers eat and do what they like while the bodybugg shows them the proper proportions needed to sustain a calorie deficit, the ultimate bottom line in weight-loss.

BodyNetix, a personal fitness studio in Courtenay and home of the Valley’s most popular fitness boot camp, is the first and only authorized bodybugg retailer on Vancouver Island, and the hot devices are already flying off the shelves.

“The feedback has been amazing,” says Chris Ketch, BodyNetix owner and head trainer.  “People who have reached plateaus in their weight loss are all of a sudden losing weight again with the bodybugg.  It takes all of the guesswork out of losing weight and gives you the daily motivation to burn those calories and hit your target weight.   If you’re trying to lose weight, wearing the bodybugg is almost like cheating!”

The ultra-modern bodybugg uses a process called “sensor fusion” to collect physiological data using an array of finely tuned sensors.  Combined with the wearer’s personal information such as age, gender, height and weight, the collective data enables the most accurate estimation of energy expenditure outside of a clinical setting.

The real magic of the bodybugg, however, comes when you hook the device up to your computer.  The bodybugg works in conjunction with web-based software that allows the wearer to log meals, track progress and create customized fitness and nutrition plans.  Although the bodybugg software makes logging meals a snap, users can also choose to use an automated program that uses the data gathered by the bodybugg to calculate their average daily calorie consumption.

Rounding out the most effective weight-loss program ever seen in the Comox Valley, BodyNetix is offering a special class specifically for bodybugg users.  Beginning in January, participants will meet weekly to discuss goals, successes and challenges and learn about basic nutrition and healthy lifestyle choices.

“It’s sort of a support group for bodybugg users,” says Ketch.  “This class will be all about understanding the simple lifestyle changes needed to sustain the calorie deficit that’s necessary for weight-loss.  And, of course, it will feature a weekly weigh-in so that you can track your progress and motivate your friends.”

Anyone interested in participating in the bodybugg class, or any fitness boot camps in the new year, is advised to reserve a spot as soon as possible, as classes fill up very quickly around the holiday season.
